Hearts is a trick-taking card game where the primary aim is to steer clear of winning tricks containing hearts, with particular avoidance of capturing the queen of spades.
<ul>
 <li>Heart is alternatively known as Black Lady, Rickety Kate, The Dirty, Dark Lady, Slippery Anne, Chase the Lady, Crubs, Black Queen, and Black Maria. However, it's worth noting that any of these aliases might also denote a similar but variably scored game called Black Lady.</li>
 <li>Belonging to the Whist family of trick-taking games—alongside Bridge and Spades—Hearts distinguishes itself within this group as an evasion-style game.</li>
</ul>
In this game, players typically incur penalty points for acquiring cards within won tricks. Each heart card results in a solitary point deduction, while capturing the queen of spades incurs a hefty 13-point penalty. Yet, achieving a "slam" or "shooting the moon" by obtaining all scoring cards can exponentially escalate opponents' scores by 26 points.
The conclusion of the game occurs when a player reaches or surpasses 50 points, with victory awarded to the individual holding the lowest score at that juncture.
